Most Australians know the importance of volunteers in our society. We are all proud of the internationally acclaimed work done by the Sydney Olympic Volunteers and Australia is well known for its voluntary Surf Lifesavers. In times of crisis many communities rely on the help of volunteer Bush Fire-fighters and the State Emergency Services volunteers. This year set honours our volunteers. Australians are proud to volunteer and to give freely of their time to help others. The crucial services they are prepared to offer are too many to list.
