Australia Day marks our country’s biggest celebration and an occasion when Australians come together to reflect upon our past, present and future. To celebrate Australia Day in 2010, the Royal Australian Mint released a cupro nickel 50c coin into general circulation. Building upon the increasing popularity of recent RAM rolled coin releases, the Australia Day 50c coin will be rolled in paper designed by and for the exclusive use of the Royal Australian Mint. This was the Royal Australian Mint’s first numismatic release of a 50c rolled coin.

REVERSE DESCRIPTION	Design: A representation of the Australian mainland formed by 6 ribbons enclosing the inscription “50” repeated alternately 3 times, between the ribbon tails a representation of a child standing between 2 adults and a representation of 2 adults touching hands. Legend: Outside the ribbon design the inscription “CELEBRATE WHAT’S GREAT” with a dot on either side and “AUSTRALIA DAY” with a dot on either side. Designer: Vladimir Gottwald,  near the ribbon tails at the bottom left-hand of the coin a small designer’s mark consisting of a circle enclosing the stylised initials “VG”
