This is the last coin in the Great Australian Artist Kangaroo series, designed by legendary artist Ken Done by The Royal Australian Mint. Ken Done, the final artist to contribute to the Great Australian Artist Kangaroo series, is an internationally celebrated artist who is famous for his colourful and distinctive style. Ken Done’s first solo exhibition was held in 1980, since then Ken’s works have been shown at various art prize exhibitions, also creating works for the opening and closing ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Commencing in 1993, the Kangaroo series is the Mint’s longest running series. In 2007 the Mint invited various Australian artists to design its Kangaroo coins, and officially launched the Great Australian Artist Kangaroo Series with a design by Rolf Harris, followed by Reg Mombassa designed coin in 2008.
