Australians have never forgotten the Kokoda Campaign of 1942. Displaying courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice, Australian soldiers halted the Japanese invasion of Papua and New Guinea. During the campaign Australian soldiers forged strong links with Papuan and New Guineans
who were affectionately known as "Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels". These Angels were responsible for ferrying sick and wounded Australian soldiers to safety. Their contribution to the war effort will always be remembered.
